The Waterfront Business District Committee is looking for donations to establish signage that would direct visitors to the downtown area.
According to the committee’s spokesman John Gregor, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) has agreed to install four “Business District” signs with directional arrows on 7th Avenue.
The cost for the signs is $3,847. In addition, the committee would like to reface the existing signs on 7th Avenue and Waterfront Drive, at an additional cost of $2,269.
The City of Two Harbors has agreed to fund half the project. The businesses in the Waterfront District are being asked to provide the remaining with suggested donations of $155.
“This will greatly increase the visibility of the Waterfront Business District and help make this area a better place to live and work,” Gregor said.
The Two Harbors Area Chamber of Commerce will collect and disburse the signage funds. Anyone interested in making a donation can address them to the Two Harbors chamber at RJ Houle Center, 1330 Highway 61, Two Harbors, MN 55616.
