Hello again from the Lake County Fair. Preparations are going along.
Gopher is excited about coming up to Lake County again. They are offering wristband specials all three days of the fair. Just check with them when you get to the fair. The Old West Society will be set-up on Friday, Aug. 14 so you can take a step back in time and enjoy some fun family entertainment.
Saturday will be our annual pie contest; look through those recipes and bring a pie. Sunday there will be a Minnesota Hot-Dish Contest; dust off those old recipes from your childhood and bring it on down. Anything goes, potatoes, noodles, rice. The only requirement is there has to be cream of something soup (mushroom, chicken, celery etc.)
For the kids, the coloring contest; registration is Friday and judging will be Sunday. Registration and judging for the cookie contest will be Sunday. Come on kids, show us your cookie skills.
Friday is Seniors Day. There will be a lunch and award ceremony at 12 p.m. in the Commercial Building. Friday, starting at 12:30 p.m., is Kid’s Day. At 6 p.m. the games will begin and the drawings will follow. Friday is also Teen Night. There will be a Guitar Hero Contest. If you have a special guitar bring it, otherwise we will supply you with one. Registration starts at 7:30 p.m. and entertainment begins at 8 p.m. There will be drawings, along with a special drawing, at the end of the night. Saturday is the 4-H Horse Show, which will be followed by the Cowboy Challenge down at the mud-run track (behind the Old West Society).
On Sunday, there will be a non-traditional horse show with fun horse games in the arena, following will be a Lake County Emergency Services Tug O’ War. Come cheer on our local good guys and gals. There will also be the hay bale toss, frying pan toss, stick horse race and blindfolded lawnmower race.
We hope this is just a little intriguing for you all to come see the changes. We look forward to seeing you at your Lake County Fair.
