Fiber optics good for Lake County
I am writing to make the people of Lake County aware of the potential of fiber optics coming to every home and business in the county.

When my family moved up here 10 years ago I was telecommuting via limited access dial-up internet and it was not easy to perform my job. When available, I upgraded to DSL and then later to cable. I am now connected to the internet 24 hours a day and speeds are better but still could be improved for telecommuters like me without costing an arm and a leg.
Today, the problem for people of Lake County and possible future telecommuters and businesses is that if you don’t live in town or close enough to town to get DSL then you are still stuck with dial-up. Fiber optics will potentially bring multiple things to the county.
Think about the ability to live anywhere in the county and have phone, reliable television and high speed internet service all within one cable brought to your house. With the county owning the fiber optics and multiple companies able to lease access to the cable there should be competitive pricing which could save you money for those services.
