North Shore Horizons, which provides 24-hour support to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, is hosting a special event at its transitional housing center for “Day Of Caring” 2009.
With supplies, time, and money donated by various community groups and businesses, residents, staff, and friends will be planting a garden and building a playground. It is well known that having safe places to play outdoors is not only fun for children but essential to their development.
Gardens provide residents, and the community at large, with a living, breathing project that grows slowly, takes regular care and provides color (flowers) and fresh vegetables.
The area has been called the “Peace Garden” and all are invited. This will take place on June 24 and will go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North Shore Horizons, which is located at 127 Seventh St. Starter plants can also be donated, ahead of time if possible.
For more information and to sign up please call Arrowhead RSVP at 834-2280 ext. 108 or North Shore Horizons at 834-5924. Registration is preferred, but not necessary.
