To the Editor:
As a former employee who enjoyed working at the Lake County News Chronicle, I know first hand what a dedicated editor Forrest Johnson was to the newspaper and the Northshore communities. He searched out news stories, carefully listened to and explored all sides of an issue, and had the courage to print controversial issues doing his best to support the people, school district, businesses, and the community.
His wisdom, wit, and kindness to everyone will always be appreciated! Forrest had a knack for keeping the Chronicle staff smiling, even under deadline pressures. He was often helping so many people that his same cup of coffee had to be reheated in the microwave 3 or more times before he'd get the chance to drink it.
With regret, we feel it is necessary to cancel our Chronicle subscription of many years as our way of confronting Forum Communication's termination of this wonderful man.
Hats off to you, Forrest, and a giant thank you for all you've done covering the news these many years. You're editorial leadership will be missed!!
