Limbs of trees were broken by giant hands of ice last week.

Many residents, especially in the Silver Bay area, did not receive power until days after the initial storm.

Some businesses also lost money.

The Lake County Board tried to rectify this situation by declaring Lake County to be in a state of emergency at a board meeting Thursday, March 26.

Commissioner Rick Goutermont said businesses affected by the storm would not be able to collect business-lost insurance, if it had not been declared. Some local businesses lost money due to the devastation the storm caused.

Those businesses, along with the residents of the area, also had to deal with problems with power, cable and telephone lines.
