In the unique format of FIRST Robotics, in which competition pits three-team alliances against each other, the Daredevils and Rock Solid qualified for the quarterfinal rounds as part of the same alliance. Their team was rounded out by the Sir Lancer Bots of La Crescent.

The Lancer Bots were ranked second and the Daredevils fourth after the qualifying rounds of the competition, which featured 30 of the top robotics teams in the state.

Both the Daredevils and Rock Solid Robotics, a first-year team, competed last month in the world championship in St. Louis, which was divided into four divisions.

DECA team placed fourth in international competition

The Two Harbors DECA team found out last week that they had placed fourth out of 150 teams in the international DECA competition at the end of April.

The team knew that they had placed in the top ten, but final results and scores were not released until last week. They just missed making it to the podium in the public relations category with their See It, Say It, Stop It anti-bullying campaign.

The team competed at the international competition in Anaheim, Calif. April 24-27.

Envirothon teams compete

Two Harbors High School sent three teams to the regional Envirothon held at the Cloquet Forestry Center May 6. There were 40 teams competing and THHS walked away with second, fourth, and sixth places.

The second place team went on to the State Envirothon that was held on May 20 at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. They finished in 18th place out of 28 teams.
