The Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay recently received a donation from the Thunderbird Motorcycle Club in the amount of $1,000.

“We have been making donations to the Vets Home for about ten years. We just want do donate to the home so they can get the residents out to do something,” Thunderbirds member Gerry Downey said. Club member Jack Rose agreed.

“I am a veteran and I think we need to do something for those boys,” he added. Rose said that the club holds silent auctions and sells raffle tickets to raise the money. Volunteer services coordinator Ward Wallin said the money will be put to good use for residents of the home.

“The donation from the Thunderbird Motorcycle Club will be used for recreational programs such as lunch outings and music programs. We are very grateful for their support of the Vets Home.” Wallin said that the club has donated about $10,000 over the years.
