Baseball

The Two Harbors baseball team took a 5-6 record to the playoffs on Wednesday. They lost to Virginia on Thursday at home, 6-4. They held Cook County to null on Friday, winning with their four runs. Kyle Omtvedt pitched the game and Tim Bott and Lucas Kempffer tallied RBIs in the win over the Vikings.

No. 7-ranked Two Harbors baseball played No. 2-ranked Mora at Wade Stadium on Wednesday. If they won the game, they went on to play at 7 p.m. against the winner of an Aitkin/Esko match. Full results will be in next week's News-Chronicle.

Softball

The Two Harbors girls' softball team only managed to score one run in their first playoff game, losing 17-1 to Esko in just 5 innings on May 23.

Track and Field

At last week's subsection meet, a number of Two Harbors track & field athletes performed well enough to move on to the section meet, which will take place Friday at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Sophomore Shannon Lysaker will compete in the high jump for the boys. Eighth-grader Ian Johnson moved on in the 110-meter hurdles race and junior Eli Hebl qualified in two events: the 1600-meter and the 800-meter run.Ninth-grader Davey Keranen will race in the 200-meter dash and junior Drew Christensen will compete in the 100-meter dash.

Senior Madisen Stroozas and sophomore Casey Cross both qualified to compete in girls' discus and shotput. Ninth-grader Jessie Juenemann will compete in the triple jump and 100-meter dash. Sophomore Leann Fynboh will join her in the 100-meter dash and will also race in the 400-meter dash. Senior Michaela Campbell will race in the 110-meter hurdles race. Ninth-graders Abi Seipke and Marina Schreiner both qualified to move on in the 1600-meter run.Watch the News-Chronicle for results next week.
