Update 5/30: The Agates were knocked out of the playoffs after losing to Virginia 4-3 yesterday.
TH baseball The Two Harbors baseball squad is still in the running in the Section 7AA playoffs thanks to the double elimination system.
The sixth-seeded Agates upset the third-seeded Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels Tuesday morning for their first playoff game with a 10-1 final score. The Rebels had just defeated the agates 7-3 13 days earlier. That afternoon, though, second-seeded Aitkin defeated them 6-2.
The Agates still have a chance – they played Virginia, who was seeded fifth at the beginning of playoffs, on Thursday morning. Results were not available before press time; check www.twoharborsmn.com for updates.They finished the regular season with a 7-6 record.A number of Agates have made names fot themselves in the region, ranking among the top individual statistical leaders.Junior Lucas Kempffer is ranked fourth for batting (.439), tied for third for hits (19). Junior Tim Bott is seventh for batting (.432), tied for fourth for hits (18) and RBIs (13). Senior Mark Pearson is eighth for batting (.400) and tied for fourth for hits (18).
Golf wraps up season The Two Harbors golf squad competed in the Section 7AA meet at Pokegama Golf Course on Wednesday. The team placed last, with no Agates finishing in the top.
