TH Baseball

The Two Harbors baseball squad is now 4-5 after losing one to Proctor last Wednesday and topping Carlton on Friday.

The Proctor Rails easily took the game from the Agates, scoring 10 runs in just five innings and keeping the Agates at 0.

Friday's game had a happier ending for the Agates, with an 8-5 victory over the Carlton Bulldogs. Junior Mark Pearson pitched the win for the Agates with sophomore Alex Lemke, senior Steve Frikken and sophomore Tim Bott leading the offense.

The Agates' Wednesday game was cancelled due to nonstop rain, but they have two home matches coming up: the first on Thursday at 1 p.m. against Virginia and then Friday at 2 p.m. against Cook County.

TH Softball

The Agates softball squad just keeps climbing, with its record now at 7-4.

They easily defeated Cook County at home on Friday, scoring 19 runs to the Vikings' 5 and ending the game in just 5 innings. Senior Savannah Juenemann pitched the win.

Mesabi East forfeited their Friday game against the Agates, tallying another win for the girls.

The Agates are scheduled to play their first playoff game against Esko on Wednesday, but the game could be rescheduled due to weather.

TH Track & Field

The Two Harbors track & field team hosted the Polar League Conference meet last Wednesday, and three of its members earned all-conference honors by placing in the top two places in their events. Sophomore Casey Cross won the shot put event, earning her the title of conference champion. A number of other participants placed in the top three in their events. Overall, the girls placed third of 10 teams and the boys placed fifth of 10.

The team competed in the section 7A championships this Wednesday at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Those who qualify will go on to the state competition June 7-8 at Hamline University in St. Paul.
