The game had weather that was barely above freezing along with a nice wind off the lake. The Cardinals were done in by their inability to put the ball over the plate as they walked 16 Mariner batters and six of those scored. The Mariners reached base nine times via a hit.

After a scoreless first inning, Cromwell took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when a Cardinal doubled in a run and was then thrown out at third trying to stretch it into a triple. The Mariners responded by sending 15 batters to the plate in their half of the inning and scored nine times. The highlight of the inning came when Marina Carter doubled over the left fielder's head with the bases loaded to clear the bases. She scored herself on an error on the play.

Nikki Babbitt lead off the third with a single and scored to make it 10-1 Bay after three. The Mariners scored six more times in the fourth as they once more batted around the order.

Shay Viola, Taylor Guzzo, and Carter each finished the game with two hits. Katie Smedstad and Babbitt each scored three times, with every Mariner starter scoring at least once.

Carter led the team with four RBIs and Guzzo and Jessica Hipple each added two more. Guzzo picked up the victory as she struck out eight Cardinals and gave up six hits, while walking two.

Babbitt went the distance on the mound to pick up the victory. She gave up seven runs on eight hits. She reached base four times via two hits, a walk, and an error, scoring four times. Guzzo went 3-for-5 as she drove in two in the first with a home run, one in the second with a single, and two more in the third with another single. Hipple scored three times with Viola, Rebecca Dilley and Guzzo each scoring twice. Carter and Jessalyn Rowlee also had a multi-hit night, with Carter driving in three runs and Babbitt and Rowlee each knocked in two.
