Snow showers, possibly mixed with rain and sleet at times, will continue to move across much of the Northland this afternoon - and may add up to several inches of accumulation by Saturday morning.
The best chance for accumulating snow will be over the Minnesota Arrowhead - particularly in Cook County - away from Lake Superior, where snow totals may reach 2 to 5 inches. A winter weather advisory is in effect for those areas until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Elsewhere in northeastern Minnesota, mainly north of U.S. Highway 2, accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected, the National Weather Service reported.
Snow may initially melt as it falls this afternoon, but should start accumulating later this evening and overnight.
Brisk southeast winds this afternoon and evening may gust to near 30 mph in the Twin Ports.
