Projects at both Minnehaha Elementary School and William Kelley High School are underway, but neither may be done by the time school starts.

The project at Kelley consists of replacing the existing natural gas/fuel oil steam-producing boilers with high efficiency natural gas/fuel oil hot water-producing boilers, related piping replacement and replacement of heating coils, along with the re-ventilation of the cafeteria, auditorium, locker rooms and the gymnasium.

The Minnehaha project is slated to replace and repair air handling equipment.

"Things are rolling along (at Minnehaha)," said Superintendent Phil Minkkinen at a school board meeting last week. "I'm not sure it will be 100 percent done before school starts."

Minkkinen added that the Kelley project was not expected to be done before school started anyway.

In other school board news:

- Minkkinen said topsoil has been delivered for the Two Harbors baseball infield and the discus area for track.

"The baseball outfield looks pretty good," he said. Problems at the baseball field stem from poor soil conditions.

- The board discussed having a workshop to talk about cost saving measures for the Lake Superior School District.
