School board approves bonds
The ventilation and new boiler projects currently underway, at the Minnehaha Elementary School and William Kelley High School, got some help last week from the Lake Superior School District Board.
The board approved the issuance, sale and delivery of two general obligation alternative facilities bonds.
"The Minnehaha project is going pretty smoothly," said Superintendent Phil Minkkinen, adding that there have been a few glitches along the way, but construction efforts are still on track.
Minkkinen said something similar for the Kelley construction.
The project at Kelley consists of replacing the existing natural gas/fuel oil steam producing boilers with high efficiency natural gas/fuel oil hot water producing boilers, related piping replacement and replacement of heating coils, along with the re-ventilation of the cafeteria, auditorium, locker rooms and the gymnasium.
The Minnehaha project is slated to replace and repair air handling equipment.
Both of the projects are aimed at health and safety.
