Partners in Living Well: AGE to age projects bring community together
From Kirsten Cruikshank
Monday night’s AGE to age beautification project was a great way to kick off the summer in Two Harbors. Children and adults worked together to gather rocks at a local farm, paint them in bright designs and plant flowers. Look for the pretty flowers in the barrels at the end of the Sonju Trail near the Edna G. This part of the trail is dedicated in memory of Ellen Moore Anderson. Under the leadership of Vicki Holisky-Crets, the AGE to age volunteers worked together to beautify this part of the trail for locals and visitors to enjoy.
The group will meet again next Monday to continue their work on the trail. Everyone is welcome to join this effort. The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Two Harbors Community Center east entrance, which is the new home of the AGE to age program. Two college interns are staffing a variety of activities during the summer months at what is now called AGE to age Place.Other activities at the AGE to age Place include Senior Tech and Coffee sessions – happening Monday mornings, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., beginning Monday, June 23. These sessions are open to local senior citizens (55+). Bring your lap top, tablet or smart phone, and THHS students will provide technical assistance with your device. IPads will also be available for use. Watch for more information about other activities based out of this location.Marathoners, friends and family members are invited to eat at the Socially Active Seniors spaghetti dinner on Friday, June 20, from 4-8 p.m., at the Two Harbors Community Center.
