As a member of your local library, you are also a member of the Arrowhead Library System and its 29 libraries. As such, if your local library doesn't have what you need, many more doors are already open to you. Books, programs, magazines, audio books, videos and other resources are all shared as if all multi-types of libraries were one big library. Through a wonderful system of inter-library loan, you can walk into your local library, or stay safely at home by your computer and order whatever your heart desires from the world of literature and media.
Have you looked into the Arrowhead Library System's website? It's a resource for the masses. With your free library card, and either library or home computer access, you hold a key to automotive and small engine repair, genealogy, historical newspapers, student resources, maps, alternative medicine and so much more. Here is just a sampling: DISCovering Collection, Educator's Reference Complete, Expanded Academic ASAP, Gale Virtual Reference Library, InfoTrac Student Edition, ERIC, MedlinePlus from the National Library of Medicine, Health Source (academic/nursing and consumer editions), LearningExpress Library, NoveList, Points of View Reference Center and more and more and MORE!
Do you have a library card? Do the little kids next door have theirs? What about the policeman, the banker and the man with the yellow hat? Take them by the hand, bring them to the library and get them a card. It's the key to many doors.

New arrangement for fiction
Two Harbors library patrons are finding a new layout for the fiction books upstairs. When everything was put back after re-carpeting, the books that had been grouped in mystery, western, science fiction, romance, and paperback were all merged with the main fiction section, arranged by author, and then by title or series. All of the books that used to be in one of the separate genre groups have spine stickers to make them easy to identify. Many books cross genres -- thrillers that are not quite mysteries, romantic suspense novels, or alternate-histories that might or might not be considered science fiction. Some authors write in more than one category and this way all the books by an author land together. In the six weeks or so since the change, several people have stopped by to comment. Some are curious as to why the change was made, some definitely do not like it, and some think it is a good change. So far everyone has been willing to try it out.
