Silver Bay Public Library News

The summer reading program has been begun, so make tracks to the library and Paws for Reading! Sit, stay and read for fun, reading readiness, incentive prizes, challenges and drawings. Come seldom or come often (we hope it’s often) but do make sure you come. Bring a friend, especially if it’s one with paws.

On Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. join your friends in making clay animal creations. Then,

on Thursday, July 19, at 1 p.m., it’s time for teens and tie-dying. Bring a t-shirt, scarf, shorts, or other small item to dye.

On Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. we will be welcoming Climb Theater and “Stubby the Elephant.” Stubby is a little elephant with a little trunk, big paws and a lot of curiosity. He is not afraid to ask anyone (maybe even you) his questions. As he journeys through the jungle, Stubby questions many different animals played by the audience, but the answer he gets from the crocodile changes the profile of elephants forever. Stubby the Elephant is adapted from” The Elephant’s Child” by Rudyard Kipling and a Climb Theater original play called “Fizz and Boom Read.”

Please note: The June 17 author program, “Minnesota Lost Towns,” presented by Linda Fochs, has been canceled.

Summer reading programs are in full swing! We are in our second week of summer reading programs for adults, teens and children, but there’s still plenty of time to sign up. There are awesome prizes to be had for reading (or listening to) books over the summer. There are also tons of events and activities happening all summer long. There is no cost, no pressure and no minimum requirement, so come and give them a try. Visit your library to sign-up and for more information.
