No evidence snowmobiler's death due to accident, sheriff says
Two Harbors Minnesota 109 Waterfront Dr. 55616

The victim of a snowmobile related incident in Lake County Tuesday has been identified as 32-year old Davis Hartshorn of Finland.

Lake County Sheriff Carey Johnson said that the deputy who investigated the incident, however, didn't find evidence indicating that Hartshorn's death was due to an accident as had originally been reported.

"He was slumped over the snowmobile, somewhat on the snowmobile and somewhat off, but there was no damage to the snowmobile and it hadn't struck anything," Johnson said. "We're not sure what happened or whether he had an underlying medical condition. We're not sure what caused it, but that's what we're going to find out."

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of Harshorn's death.

"The family believes Davis may have had a heart attack, but they are not sure," said Scott Johnson, a family friend. "He was a great person who just turned his life around, so his death was a complete surprise to everyone. I can say he went out doing something he loved."

Hartshorn had just completed a Millwright Apprenticeship.
