Mervin Everett Hanson

Mervin Everett Hanson, 62, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2013, after a courageous two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed away peacefully in the arms of his devoted wife and surrounded by his loving family. Mervin is formerly from Duluth and Two Harbors, Minnesota. He has been residing in Seattle, Washington since June of 2012.

Mervin was born April 24, 1951, to Maynard E. Hanson and Edith M. (Swenson) Hanson. He graduated from Duluth East High School in 1969. He was a member of the Minnesota National Guard 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth, MN. He was employed by Northwest Airlines, Benna Ford and Cirrus Inc. prior to becoming ill.

Mervin is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Shirley (Hill), sons Gary (Amy) and Shawn Hanson of Seattle, WA, special niece who was more like a daughter Felisha (Brandon) Johnson of Smithville, MN, sister Meredith (Frank) Armstrong of Rochester, MN, brother-in-law Harold (Marlene) Hill of Plymouth, MN, sister-in-laws Carol Melser, Great Falls, MT and Monica Hill, Duluth, MN, and ex-daughter-in-law Jennifer (Daniel) Armstrong, Ely, MN. Mervin is also survived by his grandchildren Lakeisha, Anthony, and Angelina Houle of Ely, MN, Maxwell and Clareese Hanson of Seattle, WA, Nakia Sherpersky of Two Harbors, Everett Johnson of Duluth, and Hank Linscheid of Seattle, WA along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, step-in-laws and friends.

Mervin is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Philip Hill, mother-in-law Vernette (Libal) Hill, brother-in-law Ronald Hill, and sister-in-law Ardis Cardinal.

Celebration of Mervin's life will be held as follows:

Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church, 508 7th Street, Two Harbors, MN.
