Letter to the editor: Otto doing stellar job as state auditor
From Fran Kaliher
The attempt to unseat Rebecca Otto from her office as state auditor by Matt Entenza is the most blatantly ego-driven campaign I have ever witnessed. The claims he makes in the innumerable and expensive mailings I have been receiving have been ruled invalid and misleading by the three-judge panel of the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings. Minnesota Public Radio also has denied claims he made about their coverage of Otto.
This effort is clearly and solely motivated by his personal desire to achieve an elected office (a wish thwarted by his failed run for the governorship in the past) regardless of the stellar job Otto is doing as state auditor. I can attest to her performance by virtue of my treasurership of a local volunteer fire department’s pension fund. I deal with her office several times each year and am always impressed with its efficiency and responsiveness. For those of you voting on the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party ticket in next week’s primary election, I urge you to support the incumbent candidate with a record of impeccable service to our state, Rebecca Otto for state auditor. If Entenza’s claims have introduced any doubt in your mind, bear in mind that Otto has been elected president of the National Association of State Auditors, was named one of the 15 most influential government auditors in America and is a winner of the National Excellence in Accountability Award.
