Letter to the editor: Don't miss "Fiddler"
From Katya Gordon Two Harbors
Sometimes an event takes place that compels public acknowledgement. This weekend’s performance of “Fiddler on the Roof” by the Lake Superior Community Theatre is just such an event. I find it particularly enjoyable that a small rural community can produce such a masterful work of art through such a brilliant and beloved musical such as “Fiddler.” Fiddler, after all, takes place in a small rural community. Maybe that is part of what makes it so delightful for us. Like Anatevka in rural Russia, our community has traditions and go through excruciating changes.
The Lake Superior Community Theater is proof of what magic can be created when talented people come together to create something for the delight of all. It is a not-to-miss event for anyone, near or far, who is curious to see just how high a small community can reach. The story is easy to understand for children, yet heartbreakingly complex and familiar for adults. Two more performances will wrap it up this weekend. Don’t miss it.
