County Snow Unsurmountable.

The county, according to Highway Engineer H.C. Hanson, faces an almost unsurmountable task in opening the roads following the worst tie up of

Monday and Tuesday of last week.

The lack of frost in the ground has caused the snow to melt next to the ground and in most places there is from four to six inches of slush which clogs the plows. It is almost impossible to move all of the snow at a plowing, and if the plows are raised there is no footing for the vehicle on which the plow is attached. Banks 10 to 12 feet high are left where the plows forced their way through. The fortunate aspect of the unprecedented condition is that with no frost in the ground, the water will be saturated when the breakup comes and little or no flood condition is anticipated in the section.
