This spring has not been a gardener's dream, but as the expression goes: 'if you don't like the weather in northern Minnesota, just wait a few minutes; it'll change.' In that spirit, a plant sale originally slated for Memorial Day weekend, has been rescheduled for June 1-2 at Silver Creek Institute, just north of Two Harbors. Planting season is bound to come eventually.

Cree Bradley, who owns Chelsea Morning Farm with her husband Jason, will be selling over 30 varieties of heirloom vegetable and herb plants. There will also be a variety of hybrids, all field tested for productivity in the Arrowhead's cooler climate. Plant purchases not only benefit the gardener, they also support a good cause.

"I donate the proceeds from the sale to Silver Creek Institute, so it's a great plant sale to support," she said. SCI is a 501c3 non-profit organization and its mission is to serve as model of sustainable living.

Bradley is offering the plants for $2.50 each, with a free plant with every $15 purchase. Wagons and boxes will be available for shoppers' use.

Directions to SCI: Follow Highway 2 for 4.5 miles and turn right onto Grimmer Road. SCI is the last driveway on the left at the end of the road. Look for the green and yellow SCI sign. Onsite parking is limited, so plan to park on the road and walk down the driveway.
