The Two Harbors Area Food Shelf is in desperate need of help.

Increased unemployment and an uncertain economy have greatly impacted the organization in recent months, according to Arrowhead RSVP Volunteer Coordinator, Deade Johnson.

More than 9,000 pounds of food have been distributed to area families so far this year and more than 100 families currently depend on the food shelf for assistance.

"The need has increased and the supplies have decreased," Johnson said.
