Cliffs donates to local nonprofits

Cliffs Natural Resources, which operates Northshore Mining in Silver Bay, recently announced its 2014 charitable contributions. Much of the nearly $300,000 in contributions have gone to Lake County nonprofits.

On Tuesday representatives of Cliff’s presented a check for $10,000 to the Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library renovation fund. The money is slated for the window restoration project in the historic building’s Carnegie section.

“We really appreciate the Cliffs Foundation for being the first one to support our project, “said Jan O’Donnell of Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library.

Cliffs also gave $5,000 to the Northern Lake County Arts Program, $5,000 to the Two Harbors robotics team and renewed its multi-year pledge to the Silver Bay Blue Line Club for $5,000.
