Boiling fish to honor vets
Volunteer organizers Heinz Ledowski and Jeremy Kasapidis served up a full-scale boiled fish dinner to area veterans on Saturday, Aug 23, commemorating the service of all present armed forces veterans and honoring deceased veterans.
A highlight of the dinner was a presentation from Ledowski and Kasapidis to the Minnesota Veterans Home staff in appreciation for their efforts in keeping the daily life of the vets interesting. An encased original hockey stick signed by Minnesota Wild Goalie Josh Harding was presented to the staff at the luncheon.
"It was just another outpouring of generosity and thoughtfulness from a great community," said Colleen Wallin, the rec coordinator for the veterans home. The prized stick will be displayed in the home.
