The Mariners rolled to a 31-0 lead before the first quarter was completed on their way to a homecoming victory of 40-26 over the Northeast Range Nighthawks. After the first quarter the Mariners didn't play quite as well, but that was probably due to the easy start to the contest.

The Mariners kicked off to start the game and on the first play from scrimmage, Cody Peterson recovered a Nighthawk fumble at their nine-yard line. Three plays later Michael Fischer ran in from 12 yards out and Jonah Koehler ran in for two and a 8-0 Mariner lead.

The Nighthawks were forced to punt after three plays on their next possession. The snap to the punter went over his head and thru the end-zone giving the Mariners a safety credited to Chad Smuk. The free kick to the Mariners into a heavy wind gave the Mariners the ball at the Nighthawk 19. When Fischer ran in from five yards away, it was 17-0.

A Nighthawk punt that traveled three yards gave the Bay the ball on the Nighthawk 25. Eben Fischer finished off a two play drive with a run of three yards and it was 24-0. The Nighthawks elected not to punt on their next drive and turned the ball over on downs to the Mariners at the Nighthawk 35. Luke Small capped a five play drive with a run of two yards for a 31-0 lead. After an exchange of possessions, the Nighthawks took the ball and went 95 yards in 16 plays, finished off by a one- yard sneak by quarterback Kyle Durbin to  make the halftime score 31-6.

Koehler finished off the Mariners first possession of the second half with a run of 72 yards to paydirt. A four- yard pass from Durbin to Riley Pecha made it 37-12 at the end of the third quarter. Koehler kicked his first varsity field goal from a distance of 35 yards to complete the Mariners scoring. Dylan Scherer ran for scores of 21 and 40 yards to conclude the game's scoring after the Mariners emptied its bench. Northeast Range dressed 12 players and played 11, so they didn't have a bench.

Koehler finished the game with 169 yards on 17 carries. Scherer had 203 yards on 23 carries. Nathan Bauck picked up his fourth interception of the season for the Mariners. Bauck, Small and Koehler each had five tackles and both Fischers finished with four. The Mariners host the Chisholm Bluestreaks tonight. Each team has a record of 3-3.
