ALS Snowmobile Fundraiser
The 15th annual Black Woods Blizzard Tour raised $760,000 for treatment and research to find a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Celebrating the success of the three-day, 180-participant, 230-mile snowmobile ride through northeastern Minnesota, the largest snowmobile fundraiser in the world, are the five tour co-hosts (from left): Kent Hrbek, former Minnesota Twins player; Ron Gardenhire, Twins manager; Bryan Flaherty, Black Woods restaurants owner; Joe Vavra, Twins coach; and Terry Steinbach, former Twins player and current coach. The fundraising total was announced at the Blizzard Tour wrap-up banquet, attended by about 400 riders and supporters Saturday night at Cirrus Aircraft in Hermantown. In 15 years, the Blizzard Tour has raised more than $5 million for ALS treatment and research.
